About

The Silver Barn was born from my first exposure to a quanset barn.  These barns, with their curved sides protect against strong winds — especially those hurricanes that hit the Gulf coast.  My silver barn was on my husband’s property and housed many a fun event for us as we merged families and lifestyles — me from Chicago, he from Columbus, Texas.  I loved that barn so much I decided if I ever opened a store I’d name it in honor of that building.

On March 6, 2008, with my business partner, Becca, we unleashed my vision for a store and her vision of saving a beautiful building on the historic town square in Columbus.  We feature everything from gifts to home decor, baby gifts, wedding gifts and gifts “just because I deserve one”!   Many comment that a visit to The Silver Barn is a great trip back to a time when you went to one location for all your shopping needs — all nestled in a fabulous 100 year old building.

Come visit and share a cup of tea or sample one of our great Texas foods.  We are looking forward to seeing y’all!!

Or, feel free to call. 979-732-6900. Or, visit our website, http://www.silverbarnantiques.com. If you don’t see what you are looking for, drop us a line. We answer 7 days a week.

    Hello,

I was in your store on Thursday and told you about the “Ear”resistable bunnies. I found you on Twitter!! I have made it back home and decided I would like one of the handpainted wooden blocks you have in the store…but didn’t see them on your blog. Can you direct me to their website so I can look and see which one I would like? It is the block that looks like home with a bible verse…etc…on them. I think it had MG on the back?! Love your store and I visit everytime we make it out to see my in-laws!!

I think I know which ones you are talking about. I’ll check on them tomorrow & will post a pic on the blog. I can also email if you like. I’ll see what I can find out about the vendor to get options for you as well. Thanks for coming in and good to see you again.

Hey Cynthia and Becca! Hope you girls are doing well! Sorry I have not been in the store for a while. But to those who have not been in The Silver Barn…you are missing out! These two wonderful ladies have done a great job! And you are right…Christmas is 6 months away! Take care and maybe I will see you soon! I work at the Cycle Shop, so I am rarely in town that much!

  4. I have been enjoying your web site this morning. I wonder if you would allow us to post your picture from the article on Antiques on our Flickr site. We will post your store name and location with the picture.

Actually I was reading an old article in “More” about the deer you raised on your 24 acres in Texas. I was wondering how that was working? We fostered a fawn that we found almost dead in our back yard only to have a poacher shoot her when she was only 8 months old. We enjoyed her so much that we are looking for a new place where we can maybe raise some deer of our own without the threat of poachers. I live in Georgia now but I am originally from Louisiana so Texas would be cool with us if we were allow to have deer.

    • Yes, we still raise deer and love them. They are a business, but there are a few very special girls that would break my heart if anything happened to them. Come to Texas and visit sometime!

  6. I enjoyed meeting you. The store is terrific. Send me your e-mail, and I’ll send you a couple of photos that I took.

My husband and I have been blessed with products from your store having been sent by our relatives in Alleyton. During our recent visit, they brought us to The Silver Barn where we could make purchases. YAY!! We love your store, and your hospitality. God Bless You.
